This was a Porsche 911 Targa 2.7L and has been modified to the theme of a 550 spyder.  Headrest fairings, roll cage, fuel cell, 16" wheels and power is provided by a 3.0 liter flat six fitted with PMO carburretors, Web Cam camshafts and JE pistons.  Shifting is through a 915 5 speed transaxle equipped with a limited slip differential.  We have records and many photos recording the process.the body was redi-stripped before the modification began and the project took three years.  The rear fenders were flared for wider tires and the front fenders were altered for new lightweight headlights.  The hood, engine lid and doors were substantially reduced in weight.  LED taillights and turn signals are fitted and 550 Spyder style fender mirrors and a shortened 911 windscreen are visually stunning.  A convertible top is included.The braking system has 944 Turbo four piston front calipers, 911S rear calipers, vented rotors and stainless steel lines.  A line lock system has replaced the emergency brake components.A fuel cell and oil cooler are located in the front trunk.The 3.0 liter flat six was rebuilt in 2011 with PMO carburretors, JE pistons, Nikasil-plated cylinders and new bearings and chain.  The cylinder heads were modified with Web Cam camshafts, hydraulic tgensioners, and a Carrera RS distributor and an oil cooler is mounted behind the front bumper.  The suspension has Koni adjustable front and Turbo rear shocks with mono-ball mounts and upgraded bushings.  Because almost a 1,000 lbs of weight was removed, the original 911S suspension with mono ball and bushing upgrades is more than able to achieve good handling and a comfortable ride.The battery and electrical panel were moved far from the fuel cell and the fuel cell is far stronger than the stock tank.  The main fire wall structure behind the tank has not been modified, but a tie cross brace for the cage goes the full width behind it.  The front fenders are welded to the body, not bolted, to give additional strength to the front.I grew up in New Zealand in the european automotive field and I have been building and preparing race and rally cars since I was 18 and raced with SCCA.This car was well received at Porsche Parade in Portland and won concours in its class.
