Holden VQ Caprice
new to the Queensland Government on the 15th of July, 1991, this
well preserved Caprice served as a Q Fleet driven vehicle during the Goss
Administration (The late Hon. Wayne Goss, 34th Premier of
the intention was to keep this example well into the future, circumstances now
dictate that my collection must be reduced.
acquiring this VQ from a static display near the Sunshine Coast, I set about
recommissioning it from storage in June of 2017. This included the replacement
of various fluids, hoses, belts, tensioner/idler pulleys and many other service
items. A new set of Michelin tyres were also fitted. Since that time, I have
intermittently used the car as my means of transport and have covered almost
17,000kms. Aided by a regular highway commute to a nursing home, the average
fuel economy was usually displaying in the 12-13l/100km region.
vehicle performs well, with all ancillaries working correctly (eg. climate
control a/c, heater, cruise control, power windows/mirrors/locks/antenna,
original hi-fi system with rear controls, trip computer etc.). Items that
require attention are missing central locking remotes (operates via key only),
missing headphones for the rear seats, a slight weep from the rocker covers and
rear main seal, and an occasional steering rack shudder that occurs during
parking manoeuvres if the car has not been driven regularly.
depicted in the photos, this Caprice is very original and unmolested. Although
this example is certainly one of the much better specimens still in existence,
photographs do not tend to reveal some of the minor faults that a 29 year old
car will understandably exhibit. As such, inspections by all interested parties
plates have been removed and this sale does not include registration.
