The time has come to part with my Clio after 8 years of ownership, how time flies!
It’s a 182 FF ( full fat) so both cup packs the suspension and spoiler upgrade
I had it originally as a daily driver and have slowly modified/ ruined it into this very capable and surprisingly fast little track day weapon that it is today. The overall bodywork condition is excellent considering it’s a track car so has been in the kitty litter and it’s 16 years old and black with white undercoat which always helps. There’s some minor stone chips to the bonnet and top of the rear arches and scuffs to the top of the rear bumper and door sills in-line with family use over the years getting stuff in and out please see the pics.
Car is currently on 86527 miles and has done less than 2.5k in the last 3 years (hense sale)
Had oil and filter last week before donnington park track evening it always has genuine Renault filter and fully synthetic oil ELF where possible
Lowered on Eibach sportline springs (the red ones) Hub buddies 15mm spacers all round Eibach front camber bolts, Pure Motorsport rear camber shims Running approx -1.5 degree front camber -2.5 rear camber 0 degree parallel front toe for better turn in but not hero negative toe as it gets driven to track so it can get a bit skitty
Most recent cam-belt and dephaser replacement was at 84k On October 2017 so less than 3 years whilst there it had Aux belt kit, camshaft and timing oil seal water pump, coolant and oil and filter all done by Mick @ Diamond motors who is the only person I go to for the real manly mechanics at a cost of £700
In November 2018 I went through a suspension refresh following a ball joint knock which included genuine Renault front struts, lower wishbones including ball joints, new rear cup shocks and track rod ends then new front top Shock protectors power flex black series front lower anti roll bar bushes, black series dog bone gearbox mount, black series top engine mount bush and any wheel arch scabby bits treated with the POR 15 system then spray can waxoyl the arches clean up the arch liners and new plastic fitting trees over £500
Had a Miltek cat back stainless non resonated system fitted a few years ago which was £420
Pure motorsport solid top mounts and strut brace (the only one that stands a chance of doing anything) £235
Pure motorsport stud and nut conversion (a must for swapping from slicks to wet wheels easily) £115
Front brakes are Brembo HC disks and Carbotech carbon ceramic xp8 race compound pads which were £216 alone with loads of life left genuine Renault rear disks and pads with ABS rings good ridge braided hoses all round with ATE brake fluid
White line rear anti roll bar £180
Inside are Sabelt seats and harnesses on Omp subframes drivers side is on a slider passenger is fixed unknown roll cage but I suspect it’s an Alachi 57 cage looking at pictures, I got as a bundle off Facebook and then I changed the wheel to OMP with and OMP boss £170 all resistors have been installed correctly so if you look at the pictures all dash lights illuminate and extinguish as they should to pass the MOT not just remove the bulbs!
Brake ducts off ebay in the old headlight holes properly ducted into the wheel well with the liners intact not just a rip it out job. Single horn conversion and removal of carbon canister to achieve this and its now piped to vent under the car instead of blanking off
Had a health check when I got it done by Diamond motors years ago and was running excellent compression which can be seen in a Dyno run in 2017 where It made 175bhp and 147NM which considering the age and the fact from the factory is was 182kw not good old British HP that’s great going
Has had the wheels professionally painted in that lovely marmite of a colour and Michelin pilot sport 3 tyres a few years ago with loads of tread on them they were my wets cost £515 all in
The engine has been left totally unmolested if you know these cars you’ll know an extra 10hp will cost you thousands in cams and remaps so in my opinion there’s literally no point unless you go forced induction which again is thousands.
In my opinion some decent semi slicks/ slicks and proper tuition is all you need to hoon this thing around and keep up with the big boys I’m more than capable of keeping up with scoobys Astra vxr’s Mx-5’s and way more powerful cars on road tyres, yes it lacks the legs on the straights but corners like it’s on rails and you can carry some serious speed through corners like craner at donny which this does flat out no problem
Bad bits if I’m honest there’s a newly acquired stone chip on the window (but out the way) and the front anti roll bar, front hubs and rear beam are a bit crusty. Not rotten just scabby so I’d get them powder coated or replaced if I were to keep it. There’s an intermittent serv T/C light which I think is steering angle sensor related which I’ll try to solve (happens when you change the wheel) lights extinguish when the ignition is off so it’s hard to pull a fault code but it’s good for MOT time!
If I get the full asking price I’ll rechange the oil and filter so it’s literally brand new for you, a full tank of V power and the Rota GT3 wheels pictured so you can get some sexy slicks put on and go out racing 👍
I’m open to offers as I know we all want a bargain but you won’t get the wheels or the service (although it literally has oil this week) and it comes with whatever fuels in it it’s up to you. Don’t offer me swaps or low balls I’m not letting it go for pence I’ll just keep it. I have loads of paperwork for all the above
Long M.O.T until 9.8.2021 Dvla the history if you like it’s HPI clear you can get the VIN to check when you view it
I’d advise you come and have a look bring the AA if you want it’s a great car but only 2 people max you don’t need to bowl up with the whole squad, you can test drive it if you put the cash in my hand first or I’ll take you out providing we both wear masks and gloves let’s keep it safe yeah. Cash or bank transfer but I’d prefer transfer Not PayPal unless you want to pay the 10% or whatever it is, car is 5 mins off the A1 between Newark and Retford [hidden information]
Yes you can get a Clio for a grand but do the belts and track prepare it and you’ll be into more than I’m asking
Thanks for reading all this waffle and for more info or a load more pictures just ask, I’ve been online enough to have gotten to know these cars pretty well over the years so fire away
