This car also has its correct Borg Warner T-10 4-speed manual transmission and posi traction differential complete the date and casting correct driveline. The optional Super Sport (SS) package included power steering, power-assisted heavy-duty brakes, special SS badges on the trunk and quarter panels, heavy-duty wheels with special spinner wheel covers, a steering column-mounted 7,000 RPM tachometer and specific SS interior trim. Those features are augmented by stainless rocker trim, one-piece California bumpers with front and rear guards. This is a 22,000 mile four-owner vehicle. Its first owner used this powerhouse at the drag strips in California from1961- 1964. Second owner, Mr. Hollingsworth of New Mexico stored the ’61 Impala SS from 1964- 1982, 18 years, then in 1983 Mr. Jenny of Malibu, California purchased it. Mr. Jenny understood the significance of the ’61 SS Impala Convertible. He then commissioned Custom Classic Motors of Fontana, California to do a complete rotisserie restoration of this jaw-dropping 1961 Chevrolet Impala SS convertible. It was expertly finished to factory specifications including complete date and casting code correct stock parts. The laser straight panels are bathed in Midnight Blue poly and Sea Mist turquoise paint and the turquoise convertible top is in perfect condition. The interior boasts full leather seats, buttoned and stitched upper blue vinyl panels on the doors with a mid level band of brushed aluminum. The under carriage is fully restored to beyond showroom condition, solid X frame, completely rust-free floor pans, tubs and rockers. This car is as clean underneath as it is on top! The 1961 Impala SS Convertible was completed in 1988 to the highest standards. Restoration complete: Mr. Jenny debuted the masterpiece at the 1988 Super Chevy Weekend at Sears Point raceway. Here the ’61 turned heads, received numerous awards and was later featured on the cover and with a full two-page spread in Super Chevy Magazine that same year. (copy supplied with car) Fourth owner Mr. Lefebvre of British Columbia, Canada purchased the ’61 Impala SS Convertible in 2008 and imported it into Canada. Then the ’61 SS Impala was prominently displayed in a private collection off the west coast of BC in a climate-controlled showroom for 13 years. Mr. Lefebvre annually took this amazing vehicle out for a spin, turning heads while keeping the seals tight and put 1,200 miles on.
