Relisting due to a time waster in Sydney bidding when he had no intention of buying.!!
On offer here is my 2001 BMW E53 X5, 4.4 liter V8 in Topaz Blue with beige interior. There is a noise coming from the motor, my mechanic diagnosed this as possibly the timing chain requires replacement. I have already invested a lot of money in this vehicle which I only bought to do a few road trips. I only had one trip left to do before this virus situation happened so I have decided not to put any more money into the vehicle but to sell it to some one who has the time & equipment to undertake the necessary repairs. When you see what work has already been done you'll see if you replace the timing chain you should end up with an X5 that will last you a while yet.
Odometer currently showing 201,447 km's,I have receipts for work done on the vehicle dating back to when it was almost brand new,I filled the tank just before the timing chain became faulty so there is around 3/4 of a tank of 95 octane petrol in it, there's about an $80 bonus right there.
Features on the vehicle include:Xenon headlightsFront & rear park sensorsCruise controlCD changer (6 CD capacity)TV but it's analog not digital (digital replacement modules are available)3 x keys but the electronics on one key don't work.Electric front seats with memory function on the driver's seat.Steptronic function on the transmission.Registered until the end of October. It's blue, not black, white, silver or gray like most X5's on this model. (well I think that's a bonus anyway).
Work already done includes:Rebuilt suspension front & rear, this includes replacing those troublesome air bags at the rear with conventional coil springs. I imported the kit of parts from the UK for this.Aircon recently serviced including replacing the supplementary fan with a genuine BMW item.Sat Nav updated to the large screen head unit, the Sat Nav module updated from the Mk3 to Mk4 model & operating software updated to the latest version. (this isn't the map software, it's the actual operating system software). The instrument cluster has been rebuilt to fix the usual pixel problems, the gauges were also checked & calibrated.18" inch wheels replaced with 19" including the spare (18" wheels & original spare included in the sale).New windscreen washer pumps & jets fitted.New fuel filter.New battery.New slotted brake rotors & pads fitted all round.New gas struts on bonnet.New rear mufflers, this X5 actually sounds like a V8.
Down side is:Needs new timing chain.Clear coat on the roof & bonnet starting to lift, mainly the roof but just starting on the bonnet.Scratches on the drivers door, the previous owner put this down to a garbage truck breaking the mirror by driving too close. (I have replaced the mirror along with the door handle that was also broken when I bought the vehicle).Oil leaks, my mechanic tells me they are from the timing cover which of course will be rectified when the timing chain work is carried out.The outside mirrors fold in for parking etc but won't stay in, they just return to the "in use" position. There is an alarm on the saying "Check low beam headlights" but the headlights work fine.
Some more info that might be good to know. My mechanic listed 3 fault codes that came up on his diagnostic machine that led him to believe the timing chain is stretched. I've tried researching these fault codes but just got very confused.
Fault code 26: Fuel trim limit reached 2.Fault code 27: Fuel trim limit reached 1.Fault code 33: VANOS cam control bank 1.
Maybe you can make sense of these codes.
I've tried to be as honest as I can here, just take a look at the photos & you'll see it's still in good condition, in fact it still starts & drives OK, just a little noisy. I've been realistic with the low starting bid figure. I just don't want to spend any more money on it, want it out of my carport so I can get my E39 in there & do a few jobs on that.
I've stated local pickup only for obvious reasons but I'm happy to work in with an out of town seller if they organize their own transport for it.
Payment within 3 days of auction end please. Acceptable methods of payment are Paypal, bank cheque/money order, or personal cheque. If you choose to pay with a personal cheque then the vehicle won't be released to you until your cheque has cleared. Cash on pickup is also fine.
I'm selling this vehicle "As Is" due to the repairs needed so no returns will be accepted.
Thank you for looking & good luck.
