2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX
The Eclipse that never was. After 9 years of turbocharged power from Mitsubishi we were offered a disappointment. I bought this car 12 years ago with the intention of converting it to AWD and swapping in a Lancer Evolution IX engine. I created the Eclipse we should have been offered within the first 2 years of ownership.
The quality of parts the 3rd generation Eclipse is superior to the previous generations and more on par with the Lancer Evolution since they were built in the same era. The way the doors shut, the windows actuate, the switches rock, suspension ride quality are all of a higher standard to previous generations.
Insurance is very cheap for this vehicle. Property tax is very cheap. Also if you need a body/interior part almost every local junkyard has these cars on hand which is very convenient. The amount of money I've saved in ownership of this car vs. an Evolution over the past 12 years is astronomical ($10k+ est.)
This car originally had a Evo 8 16G turbocharger which made 406 AWHP/414 AWTQ and ran a 1/4 mile best [email protected] (Message me for video and timeslip)
The car currently has a 5858 Ball Bearing Extreme Turbo Systems twin scroll turbo kit which made 630 AWHP/540 AWTQ at 35 psi. I have not been to the drag strip since this setup was tuned. This car feels very stable with this much power and really you could do a lot more. It does not spin in any gear with the street tires that are on it.
This car is very smooth and quiet with all the added create comforts. The exhaust is quiet with no drone but has a cutout for track use. It has cruise control, air conditioning, power steering, hands free bluetooth (great for 5-speed), smooth clutch, factory motor mounts with engine strap to reduce vibration, and much more. The engine/transmission/clutch/transfer case/turbo kit have close to 10,000 miles on it. This is a turn key car. Clear title in hand.
The price of the vehicle is based on the fact that this car could be taken apart and sell all the used parts for over $20k. I would like to keep this car together since there's less than a handful of 2[hidden information] AWD Eclipses. This car in particular is done very well and it would be a shame to tear it down and convert back to stock. I have some wiggle room on the price but it would be stupid to sell this for much less than asking price when I could make more money parting it out.
