Up for sale is a rust free 1986 Mercedes-Benz 300e with 55,326 miles. Rare black on red color combo. This car has no leaks and runs and drives great.
Here is a link to over 100 pictures and two videos of the car that you can copy and paste:https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1KaUByx8Qn2hWv4F5mP8uq2mbdQJBHfzC?usp=sharing
The exterior looks great with just a few flaws expected of a car of this vintage. The paint appears to be original and stills shines beautifully. The body is straight and there are no dents. The plastic pieces look good overall with just some slight fading in a few areas and one medium size chip missing by the front plate. There is also a chip in one of the slats of the grill.
The interior looks good overall. The seats are firm and supportive with no rips or tears. The carpet looks practically like new. There is some fading to the rear sun deck and the rear headrests. There also also some cracks in the dash. The clip for the passenger's side sun visor is broken and the hinges for both vanity mirrors are broken.
The climate control works perfectly and the a/c blows cold (still r12). All the windows go up and down as they should. Everything else works to my knowledge except for the following: The power seats operate as they should, but only with the doors open. The front dome light works intermittently. The radio (the original Becker) is inoperable. The cruise control does not engage. The cable for the sunroof is broken. (A new genuine MB sunroof cable will be included with the sale.) The fuel gauge is only accurate from full to half- but the reserve light comes on at the correct time (when there is exactly 2.4 gallons left). The locks work as they should but locking the car from the outside can only be done from the trunk lock as the lock cylinders on both the driver's and passenger's doors are frozen.
Between myself and the previous owner, this car has received a very in depth mechanical service in the past 18 months totaling almost $6,000. New parts from the previous owner include: all new fluids and filters, a new fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel accumulator, fuel filter, all new fuel injectors, oxygen sensor, spark plugs, ignition rotor, distributor cap, four new Michelin tires and more. Under my ownership, the car has received a new alternator, EHA valve, ignition coil, viscous fan clutch, water pump, fuel sending unit, sunroof motor and various sensors and relays. Also, I had the odometer repaired by Palo Alto Speedometer after it quit turning shortly after purchasing the vehicle (at 53,645 miles- I purchased the car with 53.625 miles). I did not drive the car between the time the odometer quit turning and having it repaired.
The car will come with all the receipts for parts/work done under both my ownership and the previous ownership. A sourced owner's manual set will also be included along with three keys.
