|:||“Very Nice 1979 Hurst/Olds W30. Low miles, all original, rust free classic that is ready to go”|
|Car location:||Windsor, Colorado, United States|
Relisting my 1979 W30Hurst/Olds due to the winning bidder not able to complete the transaction.
In 1979, fuel economy and emissions were king, horsepower
was gone. Detroit shifted its focus from
high horsepower engines to eye catching graphics and iconic badging from the
past. Oldsmobile was no exception!
In 1979 Oldsmobile brought back the W30 Hurst/Olds. From its black or white and gold paint, its
gold wheels, Hurst dual gate shifter 350 4-bbl, dual exhaust, tachometer,
bucket seats console and floor shifter the W30 Hurst Olds turned the conservative
Cutlass into a very desirable muscle car and reminded us all of days gone by!
Oldsmobile only built
2499 W30 Hurst/Olds in 1979. The W30
Hurst/Olds option added a staggering $2,000 to the sticker price of the Cutlass
and was the only model on General Motor’s G-Body platform that was equipped
with the L34 – 350 – 4bbl motor. And unlike the iconic W30 Olds of the past, it
was the only W30 built entirely in Oldsmobile plants. Of the 2499 W30 Hurst/Olds built in 1979, I
think it is safe to say many are no longer on the road and of the ones still on
the road many have been modified, raced and abused.
What is being offered is an extremely original low mileage,
rust free 1979 Hurst/Olds. This is an
unmolested 100% original 1979 W30 Hurst/Olds (except for the after-market
stereo) that has been driven but well cared for its entire life!
The W30 Hurst/Olds has 96,395 original miles, L34-350-4bbl, automatic
transmission, AM/FM/CD, AC, tilt, PS and PB. Everything works great with the
exception of the lighter. The A/C is functional but ready for a charge.
The W30 has been driven but not abused, was repainted once
many years ago and is ready for paint again.
The clear coat is coming off in several locations as is the gold upper
accent color in several places on the top above the windshield and top of both front fenders. The black paint is clouding on the trunk and
has it share have scratches and chips.
Body is very straight with the only blemish being what appears to be a
light rub against something along the driver’s door (below the body molding). Body molding on the passenger’s side is in
great shape, the driver’s side is presentable but ready for replacement. – Not
a show car but a very nice car to enjoy daily or take to cars and coffee on the
weekends. The car is a real attention
getter when cruising town and gets plenty of thumbs ups!
The interior is extremely clean for being 42 years old. The seats, headliner, visors and carpet are
perfect! The plastic on the doors panels shows a bit of wear but the cloth and
carpet (on the panels) are perfect. All in all, the door panels are very nice! The dash has approximately 4 cracks or splits
with most being up near the windshield (off the defroster vents) and one on the
corner of the radio/heater control surround (all shown in photos).
Mechanically the car is super solid and nice. The running
gear is 100% stock! No major drips,
slobbers or leaks, rattles, creaks or clunks.
The car drives like a dream, pulls hard, shifts firmly, stops straight,
and is quiet and smooth running down the road.
Recent work includes new tires, new exhaust (nice sounding rumble and painstakingly
built to exact stock configuration), tune-up, fluids, fuel pump, radiator and
I do not know what else to say about this super rare, super
original 1979 W30 Hurst/Olds. If you
are looking for one to drive and enjoy or do a full restore please take a look,
you will not be disappointed!
