The car has been a long term ownership from a private collection and has come to us as part of a deceased estate. It is an older restoration but finished back to the correct factory specification and colour scheme. The body on this car is exceptional, with all original floor pans and no signs of any patches or repairs underneath. Under the hood is the matching numbers 302ci engine paired to a 4 speed manual transmission. The car comes with a copy of the original window sticker and Marti report to confirm authenticity.”

Additional Info

1970 FORD MUSTANG BOSS 302Only produced in 1969 & 1970, the Ford Mustang Boss 302 was the brainchild of Ford motor company’s famed designer Larry Shinoda. Built as a homologation vehicle for the purpose of being able to compete in the SCAA Trans Am Championship. The project was under strict instruction of the president of the Ford motor company and conducted in secret, so when Shinoda would be questioned upon what he was working on, he would simply reply “The Boss’s Car”. It was from there that the legend was born. Ultimately their hard worked paid off, with the Boss Mustang winning the championship in the 1970 Trans Am series. This example is a genuine matching numbers, Granada Gold 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302 that came to us from a deceased of a local collector. The car is an older restoration and has been sitting in the collection for a number of years before coming to us to find a new home. This boss has a copy of the original window sticker as well as the Marti report to show that it has been restored true to its original specification. The body and the chassis on the car are in exceptionally solid condition. You can see that the car has lived its whole life in a favourable climate. Up on the hoist you can see a lot of the original stampings in the metal, we don’t believe the car has ever had any floor pans or patches at all, something rarely seen in a car of this age. The floor is smooth and clean underneath and not covered in heavy deadener which can often hide a lot of past sins. The paintwork is in very good condition all round for an older restoration. There is one section in the paintwork that has pimpling coming through, its not overly noticeable outside but you it is clearly evident in our showroom under the bright LED lighting which can be unforgivable. The great news is that it is isolated to just one of the front guards and would be easily repaired if you wanted to go down that path. The factory style BOSS black outs and striping are all in place and make sure everyone knows what they are up against. The chrome work is in good condition and the body is nice and straight without any rust issues. The original matching numbers BOSS 302 engine remains in place in the engine bay which is neatly presented in the same way it would have left the factory. The Boss engines are a little unique essentially having 351 Cleveland heads on a 302 Windsor block. They are a halo car among mustang collectors and their power output in their day. Like all BOSS car’s there is a 4 speed manual transmission with three pedals for a true drivers car experience. The brakes are the original style power assisted disks on the front with drums on the rear. The interior of the car is the factory style trim in the original Ginger colour. The Hurst T shape shifter pokes up between the front bucket seats. The trim is in good condition all round with no rips or tears. Likewise the carpet and headliner is in good condition. The car is fitted with the original style seat belts for safety. This is a great example of a BOSS 302 Mustang with one of the best original bodies we have seen. The car comes complete with a Marti report and window sticker. If you are looking for a rare, investment grade muscle car this could be one for you to consider.
