Additional Info

This car was originally exported to Guatamala.  Original equipment included a C-code 289 motor, disc brakes, four speed top loader, and heater delete.  It was returned to the United States in 1994 and I purchased it in 2004.  (I have Documentation of the return to U.S.)  I bought the car with the sole purpose of racing it in the La Carrera Mexican Road Race and spent the following two years preparing it.  Since we were racing in "Historic C" the car had to be kept period correct.  The original 289 motor was replaced with a race prepared 302 completed by TNT Engineering in Reading PA, estimated at 425 HP.  The original 4 speed toploader was professionally rebuilt as well.  The front-end was lowered by relocating the upper control arms (ala carol shelby).  Both the upper and lower control arms were replaced with Maier Racing's boxed control arms.  Also installed on the car are Maier racing's Sub-frame connectors as well as Maier Racing's Pan hard bar.  The rear is a narrowed 9 inch Detroit Locker unit with 35 Spline axles.  The trunk contains an 18 gallon aluminum fuel cell.  The interior of the car has an 8 point roll cage and both driver and passenger Kirky race seats with 5 point racing belts, and a "quick release" carrera steering wheel.  In the fall of 2006 myself and a co-driver completed the La Carrera Race and finished 6th in class.  The Vintage C class that we ran in had a maximum carburetor requirement of 500 cfm 2 barrel, so the first thing I did after returning home was to replace the 2 barrel with a 4 barrel carb.  I also raced with a 3.50 rear end ratio and so I replaced the rear gears with 3.73's (I believe).  Wheels are 15 inch Vintage torq thrusts and the tires are still in good shape.  The car has been used very little over the last 12 years, with an occasional Shelby Convention now and then.  It's a blast to drive and "open track" the car I just haven't had much time lately so I have to let it go.  Most all of the lettering on the car are the vinyl stickers and would come off very easily.  There is a bunch of stuff I'm sure I'm forgetting so call me if you need more information.  If your are interested in participating in the Carrera race the car would need very little to be competitive once again.  It's also worth mentioning that any previous Carrera race car is eligible for the Pikes Peak Hill Climb.  Please call or email for any questions.  Car is located on the North Fork of Long Island NY.  Thanks for looking!
