Up forsale is my 1948 Oldsmobile project.Regrettablesale.
Supercool fastback shape, very rare. Will need complete restoration/rebuild, has great existing patina if that's your thing.. Car is currently disassembled and sitting on modified OEM 48 oldsmobile chassis. Was set up for Chrysler big block but selling without engine or trans..(engine in pics not included) Vehicle is reasonably solid and dry however there is rust mainly in the floors. Rust is mostly in front floor and sill pans, left rocker has bit of rust which could probably be patched or replacement rockers are available, also floor braces are rusted. Boot floor is fairly good but the bottom of the spare tyre well in the is rusted through. also couple of small rust spots in the top of front guards. In my opinion/experience none of these rusted areas are majorly difficult to repair and replacement panels for these are readily available.. however opinions vary so inspection is highly recommended. (this is the same body as the 42-48 Chevrolet fleetline fastback, patch panels available from ebay)..The turret, doors, firewall, door jambs, hood, fenders etc etc are all solid with no rust through. All in all whilst the floors have some rust, the rest of it is pretty good for 70 year old car. Modifications to chassis include boxing and additional bracing, VP holden was used for donor front and rear end setup..(i didn't like the way the front and rear is setup and was going to change these out for more conventional setup, i,e jag front end and linked ford explorer diff). The previous owner who performed the modifications to the chassis had build plans drafted and build approval granted by the ASRF for the chassis mods which have in my possession, he also assured me the mods were done by pro chassis builder on chassis jig. There is slight chance may be able to obtain an unmodified original chassis for this car if somebody really wanted it (at bit extra cost), but i'll have to do bit more chasing up on this before promising for sure. I have the import approval documents for the car. Original Interior parts are there to use as patterns but will need complete re upholstering. Glass is all there however side windows have cracks.. most importantly rear curved windscreen is good (rest of the glass is flat and easily replaced). Car is located in Shorncliffe, QLD, 4017, Sold "as is", "where is", however am happy to assist with basic bolting her back together and prepping so she can be transported. (interstate buyers welcome, can recommend a good transport guy who has very reasonable rates. ).
All inall, she's going to need bit of work by somebody with thecapabilities, but has huge potential as custom/lead sled. In myopinion she's definitely good solid project and well worth whileconsidering the rarity. Do the maths on importing project car from the states these days.. with the asbestos crackdown and low exchange rates, save yourself the hassles because here is your next project....once again, Inspectionswelcome and highly recommended, also happy to field any questions you may have.Canemail you more pics if required.

Happy bidding.
