Additional Info

Here we have a 1941 DeSoto.  It used to be a coupe.  Individual who I purchased it from bought
with no top (cut off).  He owned a
machine shop and decided to take 16 inches out of the frame and body.  He made a roadster out of it and that is what
you see in the pictures. He also lowered the car which cause major
problems.  The drive shaft would hit the
frame crossmember when hitting bumps.
The cause the FluidDrive (torge converter) failure.  I put helper springs on the rear and spring
wedges in the front springs which increased cars height.  I had the FluidDrive rebuilt, replaced the
clutch disk, pressure plate and throw out bearing.  Drive train works fine now.  When I registered the vehicle using the
serial number from the passenger door sill, vehicle registration checked their
registry and found the engine number also.
That number matches the engine number in the car. So, the car has its
original engine in it.  Runs strong but
smokes a little and drips oil as does engines as old as this one.  Air cleaner is a K&N.  Still 6-volt positive ground.  Has a new 6-volt alternator connected
directly to the battery.  Alternator has
its own voltage regulation, this bypasses cars voltage regulator.  The volt meter gauge always shows a
discharge.  Mounted under the steering
column is a volt meter for the alternator.
New water pump, radiator flushed and repaired, starter rebuilt,
carburetor and distributor in excellent working conditions.  Has electric cooling fan mounted in front of
the radiator, switch mounted driver side.
Radiator overflow tank mounted.  I
have spare alternator, carburetor and distributor.  Extra rebuilt starter is one that has a solenoid.  I have the wall mount switch but not
mounted.  Push button switch mount where
the switch for the fan.  Also mounted
there is a horn button (column does not work). Mounted inside on the hood is a
Halon fire extinguisher.  It is automatic
temperature activated one.  There are two
cutoff switches to isolate the battery for long storage.  Also, under the dash on driver’s side is
another one so when you are driving around and stop you can isolated the
battery. Front end has been rebuilt.
Replaced brake shoes, wheel cylinders and master cylinder.  I have a complete set of wheel cylinder kits,
brake shoes and new master cylinder.  There
is a pull handle behind the driver’s seat when operated opens the trunk.  You will notice there no trunk access from
outside.  Also, you will notice a spare wire
wheel, knock off spare tire.  There is a
deep cycle battery installed.  This
provides 12 volts for the Timewise electronic speedometer and the AM/FM/CD
player which I use to dial in weather channels to monitor the weather when I
was on road rallies.  The Timewise
speedometer was used during road rallies and operates separately from the
original speedometer. Inside the interior you will find Ford Ranger sears
installed which have been reupholstered.
The mounted to the dash is the Timewise speedometer.  Turn signals where installed.  Parking lights convert to turn signals for
the front.  Parking lights were moved and
mounted on the front bumper.  All gauge’s
work, the volt meter shows discharge as previously stated.  Speedometer and odometer work. Original radio
and clock work.  I have a spare radio and
clock both have been recondition and work.
I have an original speaker which has been recondition.  Can’t have it mount when the Timewise
speedometer is mounted.  Windshield
wipers work but are vacuum operated.  I
do have Chrysler electric wiper mechanism which work I just not installed them
yet.  Heater works fine.  You will notice there is no windows and no
outside door handles.  Limited trim has
been painted grey as well as the front grill.
I do have some chrome parts and chrome grill set.  Wheels are chrome wire knock off spokes wheels.  Fourteen radial tires which are almost new.  I made a top for it, not a great job.  Sun Tach installed, has electronic parts installed. There are two pictures that show the top
installed.  Took it off to take pictures
of the car.  All spare parts go with the
car.  There are a lot of spare parts that go with the car. Shipping is responsible of the buyer.  $500 deposit within 3 days after
purchase.  Certified check must be
received prior to pickup (if using transport) or when or when car is picked up.
